I love your comparison. …But I would argue that this is like comparing a featherweight and a heavyweight champion. They approach things so differently that it would be nearly impossible for them to be in the ring together. By your criteria, Liza is the clear winner to me, my wife, a proud black woman, would disagree. And so you know, she finds that wig-snatchin’ video hilarious.
And although it was a tough match, I think you made the right choice in the end with Liza.
The two quotes below made me laugh out loud:
“Please, sit, make yourselves comfortable. If you require a monocle for our judging, now is the time to insert it.”
“I know this may come as a terrible disgruntlement to many of you, but please don’t unsubscribe over THIS (there are so many other reasons to shun me.)”
7-year-old me agrees wholeheartedly, Nathan, though we are in the minority. If you have never, you must listen to "Ring Them Bells" from the same album, my second grade production of my next favorite Liza song was viewed with some alarm.
This was so much fun. I don’t know how I’d never seen that Snickers ad, it’s a masterpiece. And, speaking of masterpieces, that Otto Dix painting…?? It’s spectacular, I look forward to summoning my inner von Harden in the future.
I’m with Garrett in very much appreciating Liza’a Lucille 2, also.
And I’m almost (so, so nearly) entirely in agreeance with you on all points; there would indeed be blood in a voice-off, and lots of it—right before Aretha won 🤷🏻♀️
A glorious battle, thank you dear Troy. I don’t love you any less for being wrong. 💗
Haha Well I think you hit the nail on the head, the real winner of all this is Sylvia von Harden. The image from the movie always haunted me but when I found it was based on a real painting I was in love.

🍎🍊haha like I said apples and oranges - thanks for stopping by Geno!
This was great Troy!
So many funny bits.

Haha thanks Michael - the blowback has been FIERCE! I'm afraid there will be RIOTS if I move forward with Divas Part II: CHER v. DOLLY.
Let them riot - I want to see Divas Part ll :)
Yup, that was pure fun. My wife, sitting across the porch from me, said: “What in the world are you listening to?” How do I begin to explain?
Haha - International Persons of Intrigue never explain themselves... ;)
Just watched on the train with my earbuds in, oblivious to all the clamour around me.
A real charm of a post, Troy. But, you needn't have written anything beyond the Liza with a Z video. That's all one needs to see to make a decision. 😁

😅
I have not, so thanks for the link!
I would never have thought to compare them, but thanks for doing that! Now I want to see Cabaret again, lol.
Haha me too! Watching all the clips from Youtube, so many great moments...
Priceless work here! Thanks for expanding my understanding of these two great artists!!!
Thanks very much! Welcome aboard :)

I'd also never seen the Snickers ad, somehow.
Hanger knows no bounds.

SvH for the crown! Thank you for the introduction to her. So tempted to invest in a monocle...
It's the must-have accessory of the summer :)
I saw Sylvia at the Centre Pompidou a few months back. It is remarkable and actually, the painting I searched out first. It’s remarkable.
The real Divine Decadence :) I would make a special trip to CP just to see her.
Nope!
Never watched Arrested Development, but I'm glad she had that opportunity - watched some clips on Youtube and she was our old Liza, in fine form...
