Wow, I'm envious Troy. What a stunning little place you've settled into. If it's half as brilliant as your description, I have to visit. Was this a COVID escape for you or was it planned?

It is rather unique in all of Europe... This was the town we moved to Europe for, although we lived in Barcelona itself for a year due to work commitments. Thank you for your support, Ben, much appreciated!

Huzzah, a lovely short list of lovely intriguing things! Maravillosa! (No idea if that's correct.)

That pic. Epic-atmospheric. 👏

Also, those posters are fantastic. Great vibe.

Thanks for the small window into your world and likes, Troy!

I was transported into your world, my friend. How do you do that with words and images! Also your beach photograph is incredible. It looks surreal!

A great overview of the delights of Sitges. The comments with respect to the indianos reminded me of a recent Catalan documentary that highlights that indianos (also sometimes referred to as americanos) were comfortable merchants who invested in business opportunities, mostly in Cuba. They multiplied their wealth many times over because their fortunes were built on the backs of slaves that they imported from Africa to Cuba throughout the 19th century to work on farms. An activity that continued somewhat clandestinely for up to 50 years after Spain outlawed slavery. The documentary points out that the lavish architecture that they had built on their return to Catalunya was financed by these enterprises. This has left the Catalan intelligentsia in a state of consternation, compelling them to have a less idealized discourse about these men. The documentary is called : « Negrers. La Catalunya esclavista » and recently aired on the Catalan language TV3. Viewing the documentary and sharing our comments on it was recently a class assignment in my Catalan language course. That is telling.

You learn something new every day! And no subtitles on the show I assume, what is that 4+ languages now?

There were subtitles: in Catalan! Hahaha! A couple of the speakers in the show spoke Spanish...with Catalan subtitles! Then at one point I could’nt get even those subtitles. I’m certainly not yet fluent in Catalan, but it’s surprising how much you can pick up when there’s context and images.
