"Conversation with Plants" might be a bit one-sided - they're wonderful listeners, but put on the spot, they wilt... Olives, anchovies, licorice - that's mostly it, unless you count baby animals: veal, lamb, rabbit too - these all taste like fresh-cut grass and remorse to me. Thanks Nathan! xo
Love this post, Troy. I need you to finish at least one of these imaginary titles. "Sad Cake," sounds delicious and "Licorice Tastes Like Cancer" is undoubtably non-fiction. My humble submission to the library is: "It's Always the Last Place You Look."
An imaginary writing mentor?! You genius! Incidentally, most of my death-doula training took place in East Sussex and when I first started I, completely unknowingly, rented a place right next to your imaginary mentor’s once-home, so I feel as though she’s been a big part of my journey, too.
How wonderful! Was it on the very lane down to her house? It's such a scenic area, I spent a very happy weekend tramping over the South Downs between hers and her sister's at Charleston.
Yes, right on ‘the street’, it looked into the gardens. I was so surprised as you’d think that would be a massive selling point, but there was no mention of it. I walked down to the River Ouse and said some thank you’s. I haven’t been to Charleston but will make a point to go this year.
I think about that final walk of hers more than I should admit to. Will absolutely head to Charleston this summer (and report in after). Kindred spirits, indeed! 🙏🪶
OMG I was all set to retrace her steps all the way down to the Ouse, barring throwing myself in of course - even asked the guide discreetly, "So... Do we know exactly which path she set off on...?" But she said it now crosses private land, so I contented myself with wistful gazes in direction indicated. You MUST visit Charleston, it's quite impressive 👍 Kindred spirit, my dear 😇
"The Adventures of Sir Sprinklebottom: A Fairy Knight's Tale" should definitey belong in the collection...
Sir Sprinklebottom is my favorite of all the Fairy Knights of the Cupcake Court... 🧚♂️🧚♂️🧚♂️
Hehe, v good as always Troy.
"Licorice Tastes Like Cancer". First olives. Now licquorice. What next?!
I'd like to read "Conversation with plants" please.

Ok, I'm holding you to that. If next week you say that peanut butter was crafted by the devil then this friendship is over ...
Oh dear no, we talked about this, didn't we? PB cookies? I simply LIVE for peanut butter 🧡🤎🧡
Oh yes, we did. A recipe? Phew. The world is safe. PB is safe.

Thanks Ben! It really IS always the last place you look, sounds like a timeless classic... :)

Btw, cannot wait to read ‘Obvious, a Memoir’

I would also very much enjoy an imaginary mentor.
I need to hear more about Cybele: Showgirl, Librarian, Vulcanologist. And, by the by, if your imaginary tea partner has a friend, have her write me.
Cybele's a bit scattered, but she really throws herself in to every job... ;)
lmk if u need imaginary funding
haha I knew I could count on you Alex :)
Thank you my dear, there's always a place set at the tea table for you, right between Teddy the Bear and my Donny Osmond doll. xo
